What we're talking about
Jesus often spoke in parables, short stories that communicated a truth in a simple way. Using everyday objects and situations Jesus was able to teach about the complexities about the Kingdom of Heaven, what it means to be a disciple, God's love for us, and more. In Matthew 13 Jesus tells a story about a sower spreading his seed in a field. The seed falls on all different types of soil, each responding to the seed in different ways. Jesus goes on to explain that the seed is God's truth and message about the Kingdom of God and the soil represents us, people listening to the message. The question we should ask ourselves is, what kind of soil are we? How do we respond to God's truth and if we are not the good soil, how can we improve our soil? How can we be ready to listen to God?
