What we're talking about this week
Have you ever suffered through a tough time in your life? Have you faced trials and temptations? We all have right? In the Book of James, James writes words of encouragement to an early church that is facing intense persecution, harsh trials, and temptations and says "Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." While it's hard to face tough times, what if we changed our outlook on what could be learned through the experience?
Questions for Conversation
- Do you think people expect God to make them happy? Is that a wrong idea?
- If you made this the "goal of your life," to grow in holiness even if it meant suffering, how would that change your life?
- What decisions would you make differently?
- How would you have to adjust your priorities to grow in holiness?
