In Adventure: I'm In Week 2: Middle School Small Groups 1.22.17

What we're talking about

Most of us love to have a good time. We look forward to spending time with the people who bring out the fun in us. Who doesn’t love a good adventure with their closest friends? Some of the best, most exciting stories you have to tell probably center on adventures with your squad! And they all probably took place simply because you made the choice to say “yes” to an experience. Because every adventure always begins with the same choice: Will you say “yes” or “no”? Are you in or are you out? The same can be said for the adventure of following Jesus. Now if the thought of following Jesus doesn’t sound much like an adventure to you, you’re not alone. So many of us hold out on being “all in” with God because we’re afraid it will be boring, uneventful, and full of the mundane. But believe it or not, that’s not the way life with God looks at all! To get an idea what life truly looks like following Jesus, we’ll take a look at the story of Matthew, one of the closest members of Jesus’ squad on Earth. And we’ll see that when Matthew made the choice to say “yes” to Jesus, he also said “yes” to a life filled with purpose, significance, and adventure along the way.
