Plot Twist Week 3 // High School Small Groups // 5.22.16

Session Summary

How is it that social media can sometimes be the best and worst part of our day? One of the big side effects of social media is the fear of missing out. No matter how awesome your life is, it's easy to feel like you're missing out on something. Maybe you've spent time thinking about what it would take to improve your situation, an "if only."

If anyone had a reason to feel like he was missing out, it was Paul. When we pick up Paul's story, he is in jail writing a letter to his friends (Philippians 4:11-13). Paul says that whether he's in prison or free, poor or rich, has a lot or a little, he has learned to be content in every situation. Paul understood that the plot twists and turns he experienced in life weren't just part of his story anymore. They were part of something much larger and more important, Jesus' story. Paul knew that the secret to being okay in every situation is knowing that God can be trusted.

How would your life be different if you really believed deep down that everything will be okay, even if it doesn't feel okay now? Take out your phone and type this phrase as a reminder: Because He is with me, I'll be okay either way. You can choose to be content either way, not because of you, but because of Him.

Bottom Line

Because He is with me, I'll be okay either way.

Philippians 4:11-13
