It’s a bird….It’s a plane….It’s WMS Superheroes! This Sunday we kicked off the fall Sunday School hour by introducing our Heroes and Sheroes theme. Each week the kids will be asked to think about the ways in which the people in their Sunday School lesson were heroes/sheroes, learn about different heroes/sheroes of our time, and discover and act out ways they can be superheroes outside of the church by preforming weekly acts of service. We hope that our children can start to identify the superpowers they have been given to be the hands and feet of Christ. And if you missed it, all the teachers came equipped with their superpowers and even donned capes and masks on Sunday!
Before the superheroes took over the 2nd and 3rd floors, we had a special time in the 9:00 service. As kindergartners got excited about the first day of school, the members of West Market Street United Methodist Church presented each of them with a storybook Bible. Our hope is that they will read their new Bible with their parents each night. We also stressed that God and Jesus are important not just at church and on Sunday, but all the time. That’s why the people of our church promised to pray for the kindergartners all the time. Finally, Pastor Dan blessed all of the kindergartners backpacks and all that the backpacks represent.
Please note that Sunday School will begin at 10:00am and end at 10:50am- it is important to get your children there on time and pick them up on time to allow the teachers going to the 11:00 service to leave. Children attending Children’s Chapel at 9:00 will be escorted directly to their Sunday School rooms afterwards and children attending the 11:00 chapel will continue to be brought to the Gathering Space to meet their parents/caretakers.
