Notice the different variations of Proverbs 16:3 from these different versions of the Bible.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. (NIV)
Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed. (NLT)
Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. (ESV)
Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. (KJV)
Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established. (NASB)
There are many web sites where you can read different or parallel versions of Scriptures. This is a great way to study Scripture and get a good feel for the text. King Solomon wrote these words and you might notice that each of the versions start with the word commit. Stewardship is about giving ourselves and our resources back to God. But sometimes we fall short of the mark because we lack the commitment. Oh, it’s easy to talk about doing things for God but the truly committed person is a person of action.
Think About This . . .
· How are your actions backing up your talking when it comes to practicing good stewardship?
· What changes in your attitude need to be made to begin to take a more positive view of stewardship?
Commitment is a daily discipline so pray and ask God to help you be committed to being a good steward today.
