Define: Stewardship Devotional: Lesson 1, Day 3

But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.” - 1 Chronicles 29:14

King David was nearing the end of both his reign over Israel and his earthly life. The people had assembled to give an offering to construct a permanent Temple, a place to worship God. David was blown away by the generosity of the people and their desire to be good stewards. God had really blessed the nation under David’s rule and the Israelites responded with a huge offering.

Notice the point King David makes at the end of today’s Scripture: everything comes from you God. In your Bible study on stewardship this week you learned this important foundational truth. A Biblical view of stewardship begins with the understanding that everything belongs to God and all we have comes from Him.

As you pray today, acknowledge before God that all you have comes from Him and then thank Him for all you have. Ask Him to help you to be a good steward according to His Word.
