West Market Street Family Ministry believes that the family is the primary group in the spiritual formation of a child. We believe that by building strong families, we build a stronger church and community. Partner with us as we connect with each other, worship God, grow in our faith, and serve others in love.

Our Mission

Our mission at West Market Street Family Ministry is to glorify God as we make, nurture and send disciples into the world. We work with families as they seek to know God, worship God, grow in their relationship with God, and serve God. We don't want to just minister to the individual, but to encourage the entire family to grow strong in their faith together.

Our Process

So how do we help families grow in their faith? We encourage families to grow through our discipleship process, and it can be summed up pretty easily in four words, connect, worship, grow, serve.

Connect is pretty simple, find a place to connect with others in the church. Faith is meant to be built-in community with others. Together we are stronger and can accomplish more than we ever could on our own, this is why we believe it is important for people to connect with a body of believers. How you connect is up to you. You can connect through our worship services, a fun event, or our service opportunities. However, you feel comfortable getting to know us.

We believe part of our calling as disciples of Jesus is to worship God. The God who created everything is worthy of our thanks and praise. We offer three different worship experiences for you to be a part of on Sunday mornings. We have an 8:30 traditional service in our Sanctuary, a 9:00 modern service in our fellowship hall, and an 11:00 traditional service in our sanctuary.

Once you have connected with a group of believers, and worshiped God as part of a community, we encourage people to get involved in some sort of study that will allow them to grow in their faith. We believe that studying the Bible teaches us about the nature of God, how he reveals himself throughout history, his love for us, and how we are called to follow him. We offer a variety of grow opportunities for you and your family, whether it is a small group on Sunday morning, a children's Sunday school class, or a small group that meets sometime during the week. You can learn more about our different opportunities to grow and study the Bible by visiting one of our ministry pages.

When we start growing in our faith it becomes clear that we then need to put our faith into action.

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
— James 2:14-15 NIV

We encourage families to not only serve others but to serve alongside each other. From our Wednesday mission programs to our youth serve teams and service opportunities, to our family service opportunities, service is built into the DNA of our church. We offer a wide range of service opportunities so you can serve in a way that meets your gifts, talents, and abilities. Whether it is volunteering with a children's program, serving on a mission trip, or serving a hot meal to those in need, there is something for everyone to be involved in. Consider how you might serve the church, the community, and the world through West Market Street UMC.
